 * Hi [@play33](https://wordpress.org/support/users/play33/),
 * Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern about the **origin of the
   customer appearing as unknown** when they pay using **WooPayments**, specifically
   with **Apple Pay and Google Pay**. Firstly, could you please confirm if you have**
   Order Attribution Tracking** enabled in your WooCommerce settings? This feature,
   located under **WooCommerce -> Settings -> Advanced -> Features**, is essential
   for tracking the origin of orders.
 * If you have already enabled this feature and are still facing the issue, it might
   be related to the specific payment methods (Apple Pay and Google Pay) used with
   WooPayments. To help you further, I would like to ask a few more questions:
    - Have you noticed this issue occurring with all orders paid through Apple Pay
      and Google Pay, or only certain transactions?
    - Could you provide the version of WooCommerce and WooPayments you are currently
      using?
    - Are there any custom codes or plugins related to payment gateways that might
      be affecting the order origin data?
 * In the meantime, clearing your browser cache and cookies can sometimes resolve
   issues by ensuring you are loading the latest version of your website.
 * Once we have more information from you, we can proceed with further troubleshooting
   steps.

 * Hello.
 * Yes the feature is enable for tracking the origin of orders.
 * -> This happen with all orders paid through Apple Pay and Google Pay only.
 * -> Woocommerce version: 8.8.2
 * -> Woopayments version: 7.5.1
 * -> For payments I’m using only **Woocommerce paypal payments** and **Klarna payments
   for Woocommerce**, these ones the customer origin appears correct in all orders.
 * -> Already clear the browser cache and cookies, also tried to clean on **Woocommmerce–
   Status – Tools – to clean transients and others**.

 * Hi [@play33](https://wordpress.org/support/users/play33/)
 * Thanks for sharing further details.
 * The order attribution tracking doesn’t depend on the payment method selection.
   It uses only the last-click attribution model, which is commonly used by many
   marketing attribution tools like Google Analytics. It gives 100% credit to the
   last click source that brought the visitor to your website, with some exceptions
   below:
    - [UTM](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTM_parameters) parameters and organic
      sources will always override the previous source.
    - A direct visit will not override the previous source.
    - The referral source will only override the previous source after a 30 minutes
      session.
 * So, no matter what payment method your customer chooses, it should not influence
   the origin.
 * Since all other orders are tracking the origin with no issues, it’s clear that
   there’s another factor at play when your customer uses Apple Pay or GPay.
 * In my investigation, I found that our developers are already aware of this issue.
   It appears to be related to the WC core, not WooPayments. You can find more details
   here: [https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/46309](https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/46309)
 * At the time being, we can’t give you an estimate for when the team will look
   into or fix the issue, as bug reports are prioritized based on a few criteria.
   Please subscribe to the GitHub issue if you’d like to receive updates.
 * In the meantime, feel free to open a bug report in the [WooPayments GitHub repo](https://github.com/Automattic/woocommerce-payments/issues).
   This way, our developers can determine if anything needs to be addressed on the
   WooPayments end.
 * I hope this provides some clarity. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
