# Outdated WordPress

 * Hi,
 * A customer has contacted me to say they can still login to WordPress, but no 
   content (pages,posts) is displayed for editing.
 * It looks to me like wordpress and plugins haven’t been updated for years.
 * I have had a look and the customer is right – none of the pages or posts show–
   pages are blank. I can access layer slider though and edit images.
 * I can see WordPress updates link at the top of some pages, but when clicked, 
   wordpress updates pages is blank too!
 * Is there a fix for updating outdated WordPress installations?

 * Hi Steve and thanks for the feedback.
 * I can see left hand side column (in admin) but all content on right hand side
   of pages is blank.
 * I can go to >add plugin but the page is blank!

 * Well, it may be things are too old. If you feel like having fun, try this:
 * 1. Do a full backup of things. Using FTP, grab all the files to your PC. Using
   phpymyadmin from the hosting control panel, export the database to your PC.
    
   2. Do a [manual update](https://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update)
   of WordPress. 3. See what happens.
