Over reacting much?

Ok, I don’t care if I get crucified for this review, after all nobody here gives me anything and I don’t owe anyone anything either. So I’m going to say it like I feel it.
First, the plugin DOES NOT create anything for you that you don’t authorize first. When you first activate the plugin it gives you a Clear Warning about the need to create 4 pages, it’s not like it creates a zillion different pages either as many here make it seem to be the case. It’s up to you whether you wish to accept that or not. (The plugin gives you the option) If you say: “No” then nothing happens, it doesn’t change or create anything on your site. So “You” are the one accepting the fact of those 4 pages being created. If you go in life clicking OK on everything before reading first, that’s your fault.
Second, It doesn’t do anything in secret that you are not first warned about. It clearly tells you abut the plugin name change and about the changes it’s about to make if you accept and proceed.
Third, Everything in the original plugin is STILL there, nothing has been taken away from you. It’s still free, you are not a “costumer” you are free to either not accept the changes, accept just some of them, disable the plugin, or remove it. You are still free to do any of that.
That said, in my personal experience I can say this could turn out to be a great plugin, there’s a good market for it. The current profile builder and community building plugins in the WordPress repo leave a lot to be desired IMHO. Many are either buggy or too expensive. This could very well fill that void in between.
Now here’s some advice for the developer. Please keep in mind people might have other solutions already for things such as login/register page. There should be a clear option on your plugin so that users can either stay with the WordPress default login/register/password pages or yours if the user wishes to do so. Many of these bad reviews wouldn’t be here if you had been less pro-active about using your system instead in the default setup. Also, it should be VERY EASY to switch between the two.
Currently, I see an option as to which page to use for that, but I don’t see any clear option for the WordPress default login/register/password system to be used instead. Your plugin options for this should not be the default, but rather the alternative. The way it is now has potential for breaking people’s layouts etc. Many people simple have no idea how to fix that etc.
Aside from that, I don’t know, perhaps it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to have a light version of the plugin with just the Avatar features like before and then also maintain an Advanced Version with all the Profile/Community building tools and sell your add-ons for that advanced version.
You could very well promote the Advanced version from the basic plugin’s configuration options etc. I don’t know if this would be too hard for you as a developer.
Besides that, not bad at all, the storm will pass, and new costumers will come who are looking for something like your new product.
Regards.
NOTE: Actually after playing around with the plugin more I just realized that if you simply do not select any page in the plugin configuration for the login/register/passwords pages, then it defaults to the WordPress login system. so even less reasons to complain.
