I have wordpress installed on my computer as I am currently designing my own blog. I feel that the margin inside where the content is held is too far away from the edge on the left i.e. would want to make it nearer so the right hand side can hold something else if needs be, is there anyway I can put this right in the style.css?

any formatting css will depend on your theme and its settings.

as you are developing local on your computer, you have to evaluate these yourself, possibly with the help of a browser tool such as Firefox’ add-on Firebug http://getfirebug.com/ or a similar tool for other browsers.

fundamental formatting help is not wihtin the scope of this WordPress forum.
