• Hey There!

I’ve gone in today to do some updates for a website that I run for a client, based on Beaver Builder, and whilst the website itself is running totally fine, when I click on ‘Pages’ in the WordPress backend, I get “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”

Issue here is that I do not end up receiving the email stating what the potential issue is, and I am a little lost as to how to fix this error that I do not see on any other section.

I have gone in and disabled a couple of plugins that are not used, but no luck there either.

I have also gone ahead and tried to create a new page, and imported a template that I had saved. Whilst it will let me publish a new page using a saved template – trying to edit this template on this new page does not save.

Any idea on where I could start and what the issue could be? I do have the Site Health plugin installed so happy to share the Site Health Info if need be.

    Cheers,

    Darren

  • Hi @dazza2924,

You can enable debug mode and replicate the issue once more with debug mode enabled, so that the error logs will be saved to the debug.log file in order to review what went wrong.

Please check this link for more info about enabling debug mode:

    Looking forward to your response.

    Hey Nithin,

Thanks for getting back to me

I managed to work out how to enable Debugging thanks to the link you gave before. But just working out how to attached the debug.log file for you to see?

    Cheers,

    Darren

    Hi @dazza2924

You can use an online free storage like Pastebin, GoogleDrie or Drobbox, to share the logs.
Please remember to make the acecss public if you used the Google Drive.

    Best Regards

No errors are recognizable in the log file. You only see deprecated messages (which are not errors in that sense) that refer to a plugin called “bb-plugin” that I don’t know. I can’t find anything about a plugin with this name anywhere. My recommendation would be that you contact its support to clarify these deprecated messages.

However, this still does not explain the error you see. You would have to take another look at the log file directly after the error occurred.

    Hey @threadi,

Thanks for getting back to me!

I’m guessing the ‘bb-plugin’ that you see refers to Beaver Builder, which is the plugin I use to visually design the website.

An interesting thing I just came across is when I use a different Admin account, I do not see the ‘There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.’ error under ‘Pages’ in the backend UI anymore. I can now see all the pages created for the website which is great.

However, when I use Beaver Builder to go and edit a page, whilst I can visually make changes, getting it to save them does not work. It just sits on ‘Saving’ and never actually saves the changes being made. I wonder if there could be some sort of editing permissions in the files itself that may have changed? Not sure….

I reread the debugging guide previously given and managed to get it to report some more information, so please see below:

Hoping someone is able to assist me here in trying to get this issue fixed up, as I need to make some changes to a page!

    Thanks 🙂

    Darren

@dazza2924 You are using a premium version of Beaver Builder so please reach out to BB support for this here
    https://www.wpbeaverbuilder.com/beaver-builder-support/

I do note that the plugin version is quite a ways out of date and might be the reason for the issues you are experiencing. Your version is from 2023 (https://www.bosshydraulics.com.au/wp-content/plugins/bb-plugin/changelog.txt) so updating the plugin might solve your issues.
