# Parse error – cannot access site

 * Like others, I cannot access my site ([http://jaybernhardt.com](http://jaybernhardt.com)).
 * The error I get is:
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/content/
   d/r/j/drjaybird/html/wp-content/themes/intrepidity/functions.php on line 229
 * I’ve looked at the functions.php file (which I did NOT change) and don’t know
   what I need to do to fix it. Advice/revised code would be deeply appreciated!

 * There is an issue in your current theme. Try switching to the default theme by
   renaming:
 * wp-content/themes/intrepidity
 * to:
 * wp-content/themes/intrepidity-old
 * using [FTP](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients) or whatever file management
   application your host provides.

 * Thanks esmi. I tried your suggestion and the result is that nothing loads when
   accessing the site because the site is not defaulting to the “default” design/
   theme. Any other suggestions?

 * I also tried renaming the default design folder the name of the one that doesn’t
   work but that also produced a parse error.

 * I fixed it. I swapped out the functions.php file in the theme folder for a new
   one I grabbed from the download zip here of the theme: [http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/intrepidity](http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/intrepidity)
 * Seems to be working now. I think I’ll change themes though to something that 
   has been updated more recently.
