    Hello,
after the last update of Facebook Feed WD to version 1.0.31 I got a parse error.
    My complete homepage was unavailable.
The error message displayed was: “parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /hp/bi/bi/aa/sr/wwww/wp-content/plugins/wd-feed/framework/linkify/LinkifyInterface. php on line 12”.
So that my homepage became available again, I commented out the last three lines in the file facebook-feed-wd.php.
Now my plugin doesn’t work anymore.
What can I do to make it work again?

  • I had the same problem after I updated this plugin. I had to use Cpanel (or you could use FTP) and navigate to the plugin folder and then rename it (instructions – https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/parse-error-syntax-error-unexpected-t_string-in-6). That broke the plugin so it wouldn’t load up, but allowed the page to then open. Then I restored the page from my last backup and updated all other plugins except this one. Hopefully you have a backup you can restore from.

    Hi,

Please, note that the mentioned error is meanly related to the PHP version.
Maybe in the update some functions have been added that caused the error with the old PHP versions.

Could you please, specify which PHP version are you using?

    Thanks. Have a nice day.

    Hi,

I used php version 5.2.17. To solve the problem I’ve installed php version 5.3.26, but that update didn’t fix the problem. Then I updated to php version 5.6.31 and everything was fine.

    Thanks for the help.

I also had 5.2.17. I am going to update and see if I can then update the plugin once PHP is updated. Thanks @wdsupport for the information on PHP. That helped a lot.
