 * Hi. I’m having a parse error: syntax error issue on [http://mave-glad.dk](http://mave-glad.dk)
   when I install the plugin woocommerce-quickpay.
    I also checked the php version
   and I should be running PHP version 5.3. I looked for previous versions of woocommerce-
   quickpay but I was unsuccessful.
 * I think I have two options here.
 * 1. Update the php version to 5.4 or 5.5, but will this corrupt other excisting
   files on my server (I have several domains hosted)
 * 2. I find and install and older version of woocommerce-quickpay but this will
   not give me new features or bug fixes in the future.
 * What should I do?
 * Best regards, Thomas Eriksen

 * Hi Thomas,
 * First of all, could you please tell me the exact, full error message you get
   when activating the plugin? If I can get the full error message, I should be
   able to fix any errors and release a new version of the plugin.

 * Hello again.
 * Sorry for the delay.
 * The error text I receive is:
 * Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC in /home/teriksen/public_html/
   mave-glad.dk/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-quickpay/classes/woocommerce-quickpay-
   request.php on line 450

 * Hi Thomas,
 * Im positive that this error message is related to your webserver running an old
   version of PHP (Older than 5.3). Please double check that you are actually running
   at least 5.3 and consider upgrading to an even newer version.

 * I’m having the EXACT same problem with my website running WooCommerce. I just
   noticed that Quickpay has been deactivated on the checkout page (it worked perfectly
   before). When I tried to reactivate it, my whole website crashed and I’ve had
   to delete the plugin. Is this plugin not compatible with the latest versions
   of WooCommerce? I’m using version 2.2.11, so not even the latest update which
   was released a few days ago.
 * Thanks so much for your attention to this.

 * [@californiawine](https://wordpress.org/support/users/californiawine/) – what
   version of PHP are you running on your web space? The plugin is compatible with
   the latest version of WooCommerce, but a PHP version og 5.3 or greater is required.

 * Thanks for the fast reply! I just checked and I’m not sure. I use Webhosting
   and wrote them. Will I lose anything by upgrading to PHP5.5?

 * In most cases such an upgrade would not affect your code if all the plugins you
   are using are updated regularly. Don’t hang me up on it though! If you are able
   to switch to 5.5 and back to your former version, you could try it out for a
   moment to see if it breaks anything.
    Alternatively, and preferably, you could
   set up a local test environment to see if it runs okay.

 * Hello again,
    I just finished moving all my files to PHP5.4 and reinstalled your
   plugin. That caused my site to crash again – same syntax error as Thomas stated
   above. In fact, I cannot even see where the plugin got installed on my FTP site,
   so I can’t remove it (it’s not in plugins folder). 🙁 Any suggestions?
 * Thank you so much.

 * Please cancel above request. With the help of my webhosting provider we found
   a solution and it works now.
