# Parse Error: Syntax error

 * My website was working perfectly, but after updating some plugins in wordpress,
   the site was down because of the Syntax error below: “Parse error: syntax error,
   unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/kimagem/www/novo/wp-content/plugins/ml-slider/admin/lib/
   extendify-notice.php on line 8”. How can I solve this? thanks.

 * if you can, do a troubleshooting test of each updated plugin.
 * then find out which one is causing the problem, and roll back to previous version.
 * contact the plugin author to let them know.

 * ml-slider
 * which is Slider, Gallery, and Carousel by MetaSlider – Responsive WordPress Plugin

 * Some changes were made to extendify
 * If you are on the latest release then contact the plugin support here

 * We’ll have this fixed in the next MetaSlider release. Thanks for reporting it

 * Of note though, this error indicates you’re on an outdated version of PHP that
   is no longer recommended by WordPress ([they recommend at least 5.6.20](https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/)
   and you’re on < 5.4). You should contact your host to see if it is possible to
   upgrade.
