 * I have been having trouble with my site not displaying the activated theme and
media. In the course of attempting to fix that, I tried replacing my .htaccess
file, and as soon as I did that I broke the site and now get the following error
message in place of my site:
 * Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /nfs/www/WWW_pages/
   joquigle/100pctjosh.com/wp-settings.php on line 356
 * I have access to my files via ftp, and have replaced the wp-settings.php file
with a fresh version downloaded from wordpress. In addition I also replaced the
wp-admin and wp-includes folders with fresh downloads, but I’m still getting
the same error message. I’ve never edited the wp-settings file, but regardless
it shouldn’t have a syntax error since I’ve replaced it with a clean version.
 * Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fparse-error-syntax-error-after-replacing-htaccess%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * If you have a copy or backup of the .htaccess taken before you broke it, try
   restoring it.

 * I don’t have a backup of the .htaccess that existed prior to me deleting it,
but I have replaced it with the default version that wordpress supplies. So there
is a .htaccess in place at the moment.
