# Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '

 * I have several blogs setup that have been working fine for weeks. I’ve recently
   noticed that I’m getting this error on the main page of my blogs:
 * Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/myusername/public_html/beerandwinemaking.
   net/wp-config.php on line 77
 * Line 77 is very long. I have checked it closely and don’t see any unclosed < 
   tags. There are a few if( x > y) statements on this line but no unclosed tags.
   Can someone please help?

 * That doesn’t sound like a normal wp-config.php file. Post it in [WordPress Pastebin](http://wordpress.pastebin.com/)
   so people can take a look.

 * Yes – Looks hacked to me. Everything from `<script>` onwards shouldn’t be there
 * You need to change your db password at once – you definitely should not have

 * I just removed the hack from the above `.htaccess` that was posted
    my AVG was
   giving a javascript exploit warning for this topic and in the backend not getting
   the warning now
 * so yes you have been hacked

 * In your hosting control panel, but that’s in addition to cleaning the hack, re:

 * change all access details(ftp, database, control panel). Re-upload the fresh 
   WP instance and your theme. Change the files permission(404 for php file and (
   555 for html,image and js files)).
