# Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '

 * Help! I was trying to update the default image in my company blog’s appearance
   editor per this blog post [http://www.staenzwebsolutions.com/avoid-no-thumbnail-or-unrelated-thumbnail-image-while-sharing-post-on-facebook/477/](http://www.staenzwebsolutions.com/avoid-no-thumbnail-or-unrelated-thumbnail-image-while-sharing-post-on-facebook/477/)
 * And I am now unable to access the WP login. I am new here and an outside vendor
   created this blog, so I am not sure how to access the FTP.

 * Try [manually resetting your plugins](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F).
   If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the
   cause.
 * If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via [FTP or SFTP](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients),
   navigate to `/wp-content/themes/` and rename the directory of your currently 
   active theme. This will force the Default theme (WordPress 1.5 – 2.9.2) or the
   Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to activate and hopefully rule-out
   a theme-specific issue.
 * You’ll have to ask your hosting provider for assistance with accessing your account
   via FTP.
