# Parse error: syntax error: wp-html-mail

* My site was created by someone I no longer have contact with. I have always done
everything through the admin side of my website. A couple nights ago I was updating
plugins and now when I try to access my site or the admin side of the site I
get this error. I created a new account to be able to post in the forum. I cannot
access the wordpress.org page for the account my site was created with. Any tips
on how to at least get this plugin removed so I can access the admin side of
my site again?

* Hello davidlangston,
* deactivating plugins is very easy as long as you have FTP access to your hosting.
* Just go to the directory: “yoursite/wp-content/plugins/wp-html-mail”,
and rename
the plugin folder, for example like this: “wp-html-mail-old”.
* After that you should be able to get into your back end and also remove the plugin
if necessary.

* are you maybe using an older version of PHP?
* If yes, please just update your PHP Version to a minimum of 7.2.
