# Parse error & Warning with Plugins

 * I just installed 2 of your plugins – PayPal Events & PayPal Donations
 * I have set these up before on another WP site with no issues, but just after 
   installing them on another WP site, I am now getting errors. Any help would be
   greatly appreciated.
 * With “PayPal Events”, When I try to create a new Event, I’m getting this error:
 * `Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '[' in /home/www/rplorg/wp-content/plugins/
   easy-paypal-events-tickets/includes/private_buttons_new.php on line 14`
 * And With “PayPal Donations”, after I put the short code in the page and try to
   update the page, I get these errors:
 *     ```

 * This page still updates, but it’s annoying. And I’ve never had any issues with
   these plugins before.

 * Most likely this is caused because this site is running an older version of PHP.
 * You can install this plugin to see what version you are running: [https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-php-info/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-php-info/)
 * The plugin needs at least version 5.5+.

 * Just to let you know, I had the same problem with PP Events this morning, found
   this topic and updated the PHP from 5.4 to 5.6+ and it fixed the problem. I also
   learned that it can take up to an hour for the update to go through. The PHP 
   Info Plugin helped as while the host was showing 5.6, it had not really taken
   effect until about 40 minutes later. Thanks!
