 * I have been using Tools/Export for a few years, and save the results in my backup
   folder.
(I also have an UpDraftPlus backup)Is there a way to restore a single
Page from a backup that I accidentally deleted from my site? I can re-create
the page from scratch (I have a PDF to refer to) but I just thought I would ask
if you can use a backup for something like that.

 * First of all: are you sure that the page has really been deleted? When deleting
pages, WordPress first uses a trash can where the pages remain for a few weeks.
If it is there, you just need to restore it from there.
 * Otherwise, there are many options for restoration. However, all of them are rather
   complicated:
    - If you use UpdraftPlus and have a current backup there, first check whether
      a partial restoration is possible.
    - If you only have the export XML, you can try to find the content manually
and recreate it on your website. To do this, you need to open the XML in a
plain text program (such as Notepad++) and locate the content there.
    - You could also try a plugin such as WP All Import to see if it recognizes
the XML format and offers you a way to import it. I have never tried it myself.
      Instructions: [https://www.wpallimport.com/documentation/importing-an-xml-or-csv-file/](https://www.wpallimport.com/documentation/importing-an-xml-or-csv-file/)
    - Alternatively, you can hire someone to find the content from the XML for you.
You can find someone like that here, for example: [https://jobs.wordpress.net](https://jobs.wordpress.net)
    - Or (completely apart from the export XML) you can check [https://web.archive.org](https://web.archive.org)
to see if the page you deleted is listed there. Then you can copy the content
from there and paste it back in manually.

 * No idea if this will work, but I think it’s worth a try. Set up a temp site on
[https://wpsandbox.net/](https://wpsandbox.net/), import your XML file, then
copy/paste the necessary stuff from there into your existing WP site.

 * I was able to re-create the article pretty easily using the guts of the PDF file
   I saved,
but thank you very much for taking the time to respond!I just wondered
if there was something easy I was missing about how backups work.
 * thanks again,
   Jack
