# Pase Error – Syntax Error

 * Hello everyone.
 * I’m not exactly sure how but I’ve managed to make my site dysfunctional. Whenever
   I try to view the page or log in to the dashboard I get nothing but this message:
 * Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home2/council6/public_html/wp-content/
   themes/painter/functions.php on line 2
 * If anyone has any ideas what I’ve done and how I can fix it I would be grateful.
   I have tried editing the file (e.g. removing the offending ‘<‘) but then the 
   error message moves on to saying the next character in the code is unexpected.
   What can I do?

 * you could try to upload a fresh `functions.php` from the painter theme zip
    or
   delete the painter folder this will bring up default theme and let you log in
   maybe then re install theme
