If I use this plugin (looks great by the way) to import over 500 users, the csv does not include a password for the user. So then when a user comes to the site and wants to log in how does it work? For example Joe is on the csv list – I import him to the WordPress user’s list using the plug in. Joe visits the site and clicks log in. What happens? Will he be presented a new user form? Does he need to complete the form? At any point does this link up with the listing already in WordPress. Is there someway to enter and email address and if in the users list, then allow a new password to be created.

I am trying to figure if it is worth importing the list if users need to sign up as new anyway to create a password.

Sure hope this makes sense and someone can help me understand how this works.

    Thanks
    Sue

    designbysue,

For this way the plugins allows to send via mail a link to create their password or the password created in the process.

If you don’t send the mail, the user will need to ask to restore their password.

Can the email be sent after the upload or can it only be done as the import is taking place? I would like to import users and then a couple of days later send the email about setting up their passwords. And maybe a reminder at a later time.

    Thanks

No, this cannot be done, passwords and data are not stored in anyplace.

Is it possible to send an email using something like Mail Poet with a link to the password reset? If so what is the link to the password reset for WordPress. (i.e.www.mysite.com/???? – what would be the link where I have the question marks?)

You have it in the documentation below the email template:

    **lostpasswordurl** = lost password url

Thanks – I was not sure that would work in other emails! Really appreciate your assistance. I am almost done with this site! Thank God (and you)
