# Passwords: Update Needed in Documentation or Possible Bug?

 * I think the ‘Password’ section on the documentation tab of the plugin needs to
   be updated or there is a bug with the current version with how it handles updates
   when a column for Password is included in the CSV file.
 * I’m using version 1.9.9.7 on WP 4.7, and this is what the documentation currently
   says:
 * > A string that contains user passwords. We have different options for this case:
    - If you don’t create a column for passwords: passwords will be generated automatically
    - If you create a column for passwords: if cell is empty, password won’t be 
      updated; if cell has a value, it will be used
 * However, that is not actually what the plugin appears to be doing based on my
   tests:
    - If the CSV data file does not include a column for passwords, any passwords
      for existing users in the database remain unchanged;
    - If you create a column for passwords and leave it blank, it actually changes
      the password and users’ old passwords no longer work. This is true even with
      the ‘Leave the old value for this metadata’ selected for ‘What the plugin 
      should do for empty cells?’ option.
    - If you create a column for passwords and insert a new password, it will update
      the password for that user.
 * I only noticed this because I am using this plugin to update the profile data
   for my website every week, and at some point in the last few weeks we noticed
   that users kept resetting their passwords soon after each time I ran the data
   import process.
 * If this is indeed a bug and I can help you test a possible solution, please let
