# Paste from Word issues

 * Generally speaking when pasting from Word I paste as plain text to get rid of
   all the bad code word uses. However a client has given me several Word documents
   with lots of bold and italic and I dont want to spend ages re-formatting the 
   text so I have been trying to use the Paste from Word button.
 * I noticed the paste from word button only works on .docx files not .doc files.
   It then removes the code but it uses <b> instead of ** and <i> instead of _
    
   <b> and <i> are not deprecated according to W3C but  and <i> show emphasis so
   it is better to use for SEO purposes (so Ive read).

 * I have now been using Dreamweaver to replace the tags but this seems like loads
   of work. Does anyone have a better solution?
 * My method would be too complicated for a client.
 * Any thoughts welcome 🙂
