 * I have created a paypal button, and I am in sandbox mode. I have checked over
   to make sure that all my fields are valid in the “edit button” tab, but for the
   life of me, I can not avoid this error message when trying to do a mock transaction:
 * _**“The link you have used to enter the PayPal system is invalid. Please review
   the link and try again.”**_
 * [http://ancestraldevelopment.jeffrygerbermd.com/welcome/](http://ancestraldevelopment.jeffrygerbermd.com/welcome/)
 * Also… and maybe this is part of my issue… I can not find **ANYWHERE** that I
   can place the code generated for _“advanced variables”_. I put in the membership
   level ID, I get the code… but then, WHERE DOES IT GO???

 * Hi, do you have the latest version of this plugin? If you do, you can now create
   the Buy Now button and the Subscription button within the plugin. Go to **WP
   Membership -> Payments -> Create New Button**.

 * I have done it that way. I created the button in the simple membership > payments
   tab. It appears right there (payment button ID #233) in the ‘manage payment buttons’
   tab. I think it is your latest, I just installed it a week or so ago.

 * Hi, can you let me know your current settings for the button? I also tested the
   button on the URL you provided above and it takes me to PayPal. This confirms
   that the button works.
 * Thank you

 * When you land on the paypal page, and click on the _“No PayPal account? Pay using
   your credit or debit card”_, **that** is when the next screen gives you this
   message: _“The link you have used to enter the PayPal system is invalid. Please
   review the link and try again.”_
 * Why wont it let me proceed to finish the transaction in sandbox mode?

 * Hi, sometimes people set up the Sandbox settings incorrectly that is why they
   receive errors. Disable the Sandbox option and test on a live purchase, see if
   you still receive the same error.
 * Regards

 * I had to call paypal and they helped me figure out something that had to do with
   my cache and needing to manually type in _“sandbox.paypal”_ in the url when it
   is directing me to a non sandbox site…..
 * Although, there are still **two** things happening:
 * 1) I just completed a successful payment on paypal and redirected back to the
   page where I filed out a mock registration form. After completion of this I now
   have TWO new members showing in my members list: The one with the email where
   I paid for paypal, and the second one that I created with the registration form.
 * 2) I can not find ANYWHERE that I can place the code generated for “advanced
   variables”. I put in the membership level ID, I get the code… but then, WHERE
   DOES IT GO??? What does this even mean? Since I don’t understand where it goes,
   I don’t understand the use for it.
 * Thank you for your time.

 * Hi, in regards to your first question. Sorry I don’t understand your question.
 * In regards to your second question please check the following [documentation](https://simple-membership-plugin.com/wp-content/uploads/documentation/simple-membership/membership-basic-setup-and-configuration.pdf).
 * Kind regards

 * #2 question– Please see the screenshot at the link below, which shows what “advanced
   variable” field I am talking about. This is not mentioned anywhere in the documentation
   you provided above.
 * [http://ancestraldevelopment.jeffrygerbermd.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/screen-dash.jpg](http://ancestraldevelopment.jeffrygerbermd.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/screen-dash.jpg)
 * #1 question- I will try to approach the question differently: When a customer
   visits the paypal website to pay for their subscription, I have the button set
   to direct them back to a page to fill out the registration form. **_But_**, it
   looked as if a user was already created for them when making the payment at paypal….
   Thus, I have a duplicate of the same member.
 * Can you tell me if this is what has happened?
    1- A user was automatically created
   by paypal, and 2- I then prompted the **_same_** user to come back to the site
   and create another user? (maybe I should not have done this step? Was it redundant?)

 * Please read the following documentation so you understand the process:
    [https://simple-membership-plugin.com/membership-registration-process-overview/](https://simple-membership-plugin.com/membership-registration-process-overview/)
 * Your users need to click on the link sent to their email after the payment to
   complete the registration (that they paid for). It won’t work if they just go
   directly to the registration page without clicking on the special link sent to
   them.

 * Looking at your image, you don’t need to add the advanced variable any more.
   The latest plugin version allows you to select the Membership Level which provides
   the ID as well.
 * In regards to the following comment.

 * That is what I suspect has happened.

 * Ok. Thank you both, mbrsolution and wp.insider for your help on this.

 * I think I know why I was confused by this. I have been using ‘sandbox’ buyers
   to test this out. Because a sandbox buyer has a fake email, I never received
   a link via email to complete this task, so I felt I needed to create a new landing
   page that had them complete the task.
    I understand now, that with a ‘real’ email,
   I will be able to receive the link that finishes the process (of registering)
   correctly.

 * I have one more question that is somewhat related to this topic:
 * I am wondering if there is a way to get the code of the button that your plugin
   creates. For example, if I were to create a button on the actual PayPal site,
   it would supply me with an HTML code, as well as a hyperlink that can be used
   in an email, etc.
 * Your plugin creates only a shortcode for the button, but I would like to be able
   to put this in an email from time to time. Is there a way to do this?

 * For anyone that might be curious about a solution to the above question…
 * Even though Simple Membership has simplified the creation of a paypal button
   directly from the settings of their plugin, you can still use the “advanced variables”
   option.
 * Here is how:
