Paypal Card Fields Defaulting to UK Billing Address

I have set the country default in woocommerce general settings to be country of shop – Ireland – I am currently in Ireland also – when I go to checkout – click Debit or Credit Card option – the Billing Address fields default to UK.

ya tried all that and it was still there. At the time ,when I went back to update the post it was already marked as resolved for some reason.
So anyway, I thought I would try again, just in case you knew of some way I could even manually update the code to force the default country?

I understand that your issue is that the credit card fields are defaulting to a UK, instead of an Irish, country option.

The first thing one reads on the WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Payment Gateway plugin page is the following notice:
⚠️ Support for PayPal Checkout will discontinue from 1 Mar 2022 and updates to the plugin have stopped as of 1 Sept 2021. We recommend switching to PayPal Payments.

Therefore, I would like you to
1. Deactivate and delete the WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway: by WooCommerce – 2.1.3 found in the site’s list of plugins and
2. Update, WooCommerce, WordPress and WooCommerce PayPal Payments to their respective latest versions and see if the issue persists.

So the official reply is:
“please stop using our plugin”!? Trust me when I say that I want to do this, however its currently not possible to as we are in the middle of a busy sales period and dont want to mess with anything payments related until things calm down a bit.

I copied the logs from the previous thread to save time. The log output will be the same as the one now. I have all the same plugins installed and running as then.

Its fine, if you have no solution then forget about it. marked as resolved again, I will switch plugins in a couple of months.

Not quite. What is actually happening at the moment on your site, is that you have two active plugins with overlapping features:
1. WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway: by WooCommerce
2. WooCommerce PayPal Payments: By WooCommerce

That’s a conflict that’s no good for any site.
Not only that, but support and updates have stopped for (1) a while now.

They are both official plugins, but (2) has now replaced (1) and therefore it is essential to stop using (1), as this will additionally help resolve your issue.

I hope that provides further clarity, otherwise let us know!

The 2nd plugin is deactivated though. So I would have assumed it wouldnt be having any effect? I mean I can try deleting the 2nd plugin completely for now if you think that will fix the issue.

Okay so I figured this out, thought I would update for anyone else looking in future:
Add this to functions.php:
