# Permalink

 * Im creating a post and a page.After creating the permalink is [http://localhost/wordpress/?p=123](http://localhost/wordpress/?p=123).
   When i try to view the page or post it gives me 404 page not found. My question
   is when we create a post/page do i have to link it to a different php file everytime
   like [http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/page.php](http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/page.php)
   in permalink.what changes do i do to make it visible.I need help asap.

 * You just go to Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and just choose “Post name” 
   option then save it.

 * Changed it.But i created a new post the permalink appears like this
    [http://localhost/wordpress/new-post/](http://localhost/wordpress/new-post/).
   But when i click on preview button on right hand side of the page before publishing,
   it is giving me the Index of/wordpress: [http://localhost/wordpress/?p=14&preview=true](http://localhost/wordpress/?p=14&preview=true).
   And once i publish the post and try to view the post it is giving me 404 page
   not found: The requested URL /wordpress/new-post/ was not found on this server.
   The url is [http://localhost/wordpress/new-post/](http://localhost/wordpress/new-post/)
