# Permalink perfomance

 * I would love to have this implemented. I heard wordpress slows down on performance
   if you use postname slug at the beginning of url.
 * But i’m wondering if you could detect postid in url
    for example:
 * [http://example.com/what-a-nice-post/125/](http://example.com/what-a-nice-post/125/)
 * i think you could easily detect the number at the end to stop searching database
   by title and search all the pages too. It would be so much helpful for many of
   us here

 * Hopefully this will make it into 3.3 (I’m pretty sure a massive change like this
   won’t be in a 3.2.x patch). Right now, there’s no difference between postname/
   id and postname, so … unless you have a LOT of pages, I think you’re okay with
   just postname for now, but keep a VERY close eye on your server speed/cpu.

 * And what with %category%/%postname%? It would be additional check, if first part
   is one of them categories and them select from posts entry with title given in
   sec. part.

 * %category%/%postname% would still be an extra check. They’re not sure it looks
   like.
