• Hi, I’m having trouble editing the permalink to this page. If I change 1447-2 to portfolio, which is what I want it to read, it changes the entire page layout to archive. All my other pages are fine, it’s just this one. Any clues? The permalink looks messy and inconsistent like this. Any clues? Thanks in advance.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Settings -> Permalinks and change your permalink structure.

Also, does your theme have a Portfolio” custom post type?

Hi, I think the problem is probably because I want to call my page Portfolio, but I don’t want to use any inbuilt portfolio settings – for my purposes it’s a page the same as the others. I’m looking at the permalink settings now, though, and I’m at a loss as to what to change, and what to.

Your desired URL matched with a post type ‘portfolio’.

Change your permalink to something else or move over to Setting > Permalinks and check the second last option and reload the site. It will automatically update all your URL.

I’ve tried your second option, while I think about what else I could call that page, but it hasn’t made any difference. Also, I do plan on starting a blog on the site soon, so I don’t want to do anything which will affect those posts. Do you think my best option is simply to rename the page?

I’m now either getting Projects Archive – Nothing Found, or Page not found.

The best option is to use Yoast SEO to change the slug of posts and pages. Click on edit snippet and edit the slug what you want if you don’t want to update all URLs.

But the practice is using the SEO friendly URL structure which and it is achieved by updating the permalink setting in the settings page.

It doesn’t matter if you want to start a blog else seo friendly permalink will be very helpful for your posts.

I will recommend using Yoast SEO to edit the slug and make it SEO friendly.

Hi, I’ve just tried changing the slug using Yoast SEO, but the page is now saying Page not found.

Try reloading the new url you created or click on view page using the top bar from the page editor.

I’ve done this but it still says Projects Archive: nothing found.

Please share the url you have created.

One more thing you need to do. Maybe this one is the possible reason.

Go to the stting > permalink and don’t do anything. Just hit the save button and check your page again.

    Other option –
Visit dashboard > page and find the page you want to view. Click on view link and check it loads or not?

@nickytay and @apprimit I have archived the last two replies.

@apprimit, your account is flagged and will be under moderation when you post. Please, please, please don’t ask to be reached outside of these forums. I get you are trying to help, I do. But that is not how it works. This goes against the forum guidelines.

    Hello,

I checked your site and there is no permalink issue. Nothing found means you have not added any content on your page.

If permalink issue will occur it will display 404 error – page not found.

Your page show ‘nothing found’ it means you need to add content on your page.

@jcastaneda sorry for the inconvenience. I’ll keep it in my mind and try to help here only.

No worries, @apprimit, we all make mistakes, the important thing is we learn from them.

Now, for the OP, does it happen if you use a different theme?
