# Permalink Settings Help Needed

 * Currently, my permalink structure is set to Month and Name ([http://www.measuringflower.com/2015/10/sample-post/](http://www.measuringflower.com/2015/10/sample-post/)).
   I want to change this to Post Name ([http://www.measuringflower.com/sample-post/](http://www.measuringflower.com/sample-post/)).
   Upon trying this in Settings (Settings –> Permalinks), it messes up links. Like
   if I were to click on a post from Pinterest, it goes to a 404 error.
 * My question–how can I get the old links to redirect to the new ones? Specifically,
   how do I do this EASILY, without having to go into every single solitary post
   and setting a 301 redirect? I have thousands of posts, so can’t do this. Help
   please!

 * – Unless you’ve done something to disable it, the built-in canonical URL feature
   of WordPress will actually do the 301 redirects for you. You don’t have to do

   Google will respect your built in canonical URL

 * So you’re saying I came change it from Month and Name to the desired Post Name
   and it should automatically redirect all the posts? I just tried it and it didn’t
   do it. Maybe it takes a while for it to happen?
