# Permalink without mod_rewrite

 * Yes, unfortunatly my hosting provider don’t allow me to use **mod_rewrite** directives
   inside my .htaccess files.
    I realy like clean and semantic URI, is there any
   solution for me? (may be a plug-in, may be an apache [Force-Type](http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_mime.html#forcetype)
   directive )

 * Why not prefix your permalinks with index.php as that works on most hosting providers.
   See the options on the permalink page in your blog install.

 * Pretty permalinks are exclusively the domain of mod_rewrite.
 * Without mod_rewrite, you can use reasonably pretty permalinks of the format:
   `
   http://example.com/index.php/2005/07/08/a-post` You’ll have index.php in your
   permalinks, but you won’t have question marks.
