 * Hi all, I recently upgraded to wp 2.x. Now I see the need to start using permalinks
   for my pages.
 * My first attempt at enabling them results in 403s for all pages including the
   dashboard. The only solution is to delete the .htaccess file from my /blog folder.
 * What could be wrong? I just want to try some of the default permalinks first.
 * Thanks,
    Steve.

 * Well, the “deafult” works without any htaccess file.
 * The .htaccess file should be in the WP directory.
    It has to be writable (chmod
   666) so WP can write the rules into it. More: [http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks](http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks)
