 * I have just upgraded PHP to PHP 5.4.12 from 5.2.6 on an IIS7 web server and I
now receive 500 Internal Server Errors when browsing to sites with a default
   installation of WordPress 3.5.1.
 * When run locally the wordpress index.php page returns page and informs the user
that the wp-config.php does not exist and then continues for the user to create
it. Running the same index.php file through a command line php-cgi.exe the status
is still 500 Internal Server Error, however it appears to be ignored!
 * I am trying to determine the reason for the 500 errors but at present unable
to, any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

 * – first off, check your site’s error logs for a more specific error message.

 * [@wpyogi](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wpyogi/) – 1 month old is an “old
   thread”?

 * Sorry, I should have just said, “please start your own thread per

 * simpso1j, are you really expecting someone who solved their problem 1 month ago
to come here and answer you?
 * Again: if you have particular issue with PHP 5.4 – post your own question in
a new thread. btw its good that you are looking in old posts, but posting in
them isnt a very good idea.

 * Hi Simpso1j – Amazingly friendly and helpful forum this isn’t it?! and I am more
than happy to help if I can. Pretty illogical to start a new thread when I didn’t
receive any help on the same topic!!
 * To be honest I didn’t really got to the bottom of this. What I did find was that
it wasn’t an IIS 500 internal server error, it looked to be passed by the wordpress
code because of the missing configuration file! I could have 1. Altered the 500
custom page in IIS to the sites index page which effectively re-routed this error
back to the index page which was far from ideal or 2. Except the error and update
   the wp-config.php manually
 * Sorry I couldn’t be more specific and give you an exact answer, but I hope this
has been helpful in some way. Good luck
