 * I have a site:
    -WP 4.9.8 -PHP 7.2.11 -W3TC 0.9.7
 * W3TC Compatibility Check:
    mod_deflate: Not detected (required for disk enhanced
   Page Cache and Browser Cache) mod_env: Not detected (required for disk enhanced
   Page Cache and Browser Cache) mod_expires: Not detected (required for disk enhanced
   Page Cache and Browser Cache) mod_filter: Not detected (required for disk enhanced
   Page Cache and Browser Cache) mod_ext_filter: Not detected (required for disk
   enhanced Page Cache and Browser Cache) mod_headers: Not detected (required for
   disk enhanced Page Cache and Browser Cache) mod_mime: Not detected (required
   for disk enhanced Page Cache and Browser Cache) mod_rewrite: Not detected (required
   for disk enhanced Page Cache and Browser Cache) mod_setenvif: Not detected (required
   for disk enhanced Page Cache and Browser Cache)
 * Pagespeed insights & Lighthouse suggests: “Enable text compression (gzip or deflate)”

   Network / Headers say: “Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate”
 * W3TC / Browswer cache:
    -General -CSS & JS -HTML & XML -Media & Other files all“
   Enable HTTP (gzip) compression” is ON
 * My site provider say mod_deflate can be used in earlier PHP version only. (In
   mod_php type only.)
 * My question: How can I enable the compression?
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fphp-7-2-gzip%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Hello,
 * Can you please share what provider you are using and if they can give more information
   on `mod_deflate can be used in earlier PHP version only`?

 * It is a small hungarian company: [http://www.024reg.com](http://www.024reg.com)

   They said, they upgraded some kind of “processor” together with the php upgrade
   and this new processor couse this problem. W3 Total Cache plugin can identify
   these functions only at mod_php type processors.
 * But I have the same problem with another site at another provider (maxer.hu)
   too.
    -PHP 5.6.28 -WP 4.9.8 -W3TC 0.9.7 I have exactly the same W3TC Compatibility
   Check message. I asked them about these functions. They said **all of these functions
   are available** but the **W3TC does not find them**. The test programs (Pagespeed
   insights & Lighthouse) say: “Enable text compression (gzip or deflate)”.

 * Hello,
 * These “functions” are available but they need to enable them for your installation.
   The Compatibility check suggests that those Apache modules are not enabled on
   the server.

 * Hi,
 * On friday I asked them to enable these functions. They said, all of them was
   enabled already except “mod_ext_filter”, but they enabled this also.
    This means
   every funcion is available, enabled but still no result. This site: [http://www.solarside.hu](http://www.solarside.hu)

 * I’m mixed up. I have a site for testing. (metar-napelem.hu)
    PHP 5.3.3 WP 4.9.8
   W3TC 0.9.7 Weaver Xtreme 4.1 I turned on and off plugins to find out if they
   mix up each other. Right now I have a plain site with only 2 active plugin: W3TC&
   Weaver Xtreme Theme Support. W3TC say the same error message (**missing functions**).
   Google Pagespeed insights say: “**Text compression OK**” Lighthouse say: “**Enable
   text compression!**” WebSite Auditor say: “**GZIP compression is configured on
   the site’s server and applied to all site’s resources.**“
