    Hi,

I have a site which is currently running PHP version 7.0.27
    WordPress v5.7.2
    “Twenty Eleven” theme v3.7
    Plugins PHP v5.2.4, 5.3, and 5.6.2

My hosting company has offered an upgrade to a new cpanel plan with PHP v7.4 or v8.0.

Should I go for the latest PHP v8.0?
I believe there could still be some compatibility problems?

I’m not very “technical” and would appreciate any assistance.

    Thank you.

WordPress itself recommends PHP 7.4 or higher, and will work under PHP 8: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/about/requirements/

However, we can’t speak for any plugins or themes you may have. I recommend checking with their support for specifics, but personally I recommend simply finding alternatives for any that don’t currently work under at least PHP 7.4.

    Hi James,
I shall follow up with the theme & plugins support and host provider.
    Thanks, appreciate your assistance.

    Kind regards,
    Trish
