 * My host currently defaults to PHP 5.6; however I note that WP Planet mentions
   the following regarding PHP 7: “Unrelated to SSL, Mullenweg also commented on
   the significant performance improvements in PHP7 and will consider whether hosting
   partners use PHP7 by default for new accounts in 2017”.
 * I installed WP Engine PHP Compatibility Checker plugin to see if there might
   be compatibility issues in switching to 7. It indicates that CC is “Possibly
   not PHP 7.0 compatible” with 9 warnings and 55 errors. While this does not indicate
   CC will not run under 7, it suggests there is more risk than I want to take in
   making the switch.
 * Does CC have a timeline for PHP 7 compatibility?

 * [@taastrategies](https://wordpress.org/support/users/taastrategies/) Comet Cache
   is **fully compatible with PHP 7** and we’re running it on many PHP 7 servers
   in production. The PHP 7 compatibility checker that WP Engine is using is incorrectly
   reporting false-positives. Please see [this article draft](https://github.com/websharks/comet-cache-kb/issues/128)
   for a technical explanation about why those issues being reported are invalid.

 * I’ve also opened a false-positive report for Comet Cache with the PHP Compatibility
   Checker plugin that WP Engine puts out: [https://wordpress.org/support/topic/false-positive-comet-cache/](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/false-positive-comet-cache/)

 * Thank you for such a quick and thorough response! I attempted a Forum Search
   on PHP 7 before posting; however the search does not limit itself to the plugin.
   Thank you also for a very nice plugin.
