 * I’m unclear the proper protocol for editing the themes/templates. I’ve started
   using one I like, but want to make a few changes. I don’t know php. I took a 
   quick look at the author’s blog, to which he hasn’t posted for about 4 months.
 * The changes are probably relatively simple for anyone who knows what to do. How
   do I pursue this?

 * No knowledge of PHP is required. If you know XHTML/CSS, you’re good to go.

 * Well, in the case of some themes, a little knowledge of PHP goes a long way. 
   But if you dive in and need help with anything, just ask here.
 * Note that mentioning the theme’s name/url/etc. will help at that time for those
   willing to dig a little.

 * I’m quite certain that the theme I was working with was php. I know html and 
   its close relatives. I will look further into the resources you’ve suggested.
 * In the meantime, I selected another theme which makes most of the earlier objections
   disappear. The one I am now using (maybe not the last!) is a little more “common”
   but it is exceptionally readable, and that’s more important than unique. I’m 
   sure that I will find interesting ways to make it more distinctive. The content
   is what really matters.
