 * [@nanmaru](https://wordpress.org/support/users/nanmaru/) In order to run the
   current version of the Yoast SEO plugin it requires that WordPress either be
   version 5.4 or 5.5 so to run the plugin you would need to upgrade WordPress to
   one of those versions. We also have more information on this here: [https://yoast.com/supporting-older-versions-of-wordpress/](https://yoast.com/supporting-older-versions-of-wordpress/)
 * Also, if you have purchased SEO Premium you would need to contact us directly

   SEO.

 * Hey Carl B,
 * Thanks for the quick reply. Our wordpress version is currently 5.4.2. Does it
   have to be 5.4 only? I can try to see if updating to 5.5 will resolve the issue,
   but won’t be able to get to it till tomorrow.
 * We are in the process of finding our credentials but once I have that I will

 * [@nanmaru](https://wordpress.org/support/users/nanmaru/) Thanks for your reply
   and I apologize for the confusion. You can use the current version of the plugin
   with WordPress version 5.4.2.
 * However, the version of Yoast SEO Premium that you using is many versions out
   of date (version 5.9.4 and the current version is 14.8) and this is likely causing
   the issue with the error on the site.
