PHP error when activating via multisite

Did a search through questions and on your site but didn’t find anything addressing this issue.

When activating the groups plugin on multisite I get “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”

I think this should be addressed in an update because woo commerce groups requires groups to be installed. The issue is that the woo commerce helper (updater) plugin requires in multisite that you network activate the woo commerce groups, and by deduction you would need to network activate groups to make it all work properly.
