 * Can I swap the files on the server by extracting the zip file instead of deleting
Yoast? That would give it a fresh install.

 * You can swap and replace files instead of deleting the existing copy of the Yoast
SEO plugin. However, it is recommended to delete the existing copy of the Yoast
SEO plugin and reinstall a fresh copy.

 * Tried without success with the helper plugin as well to reset the indexation.

 * What’s the difference? It essentially does the same thing.

 * We have seen a few reports when replacing files instead of a fresh installation
in the v14.* releases as these releases come with several new files and also
removes several files. When swapping and replacing, some old files may be still
   there when that’s not needed.

 * Okay would expect a normal plugin update solving this or a patch update correcting
   this?
 * So deleting the plugin will still keep all SEO settings and data?

 * A patch update, if using the default WordPress update method, would remove the
plugin along with all of the plugin files before adding the new plugin version.
 * Yoast SEO settings and data are stored in the database even when you uninstall
   the plugin.

 * Okay, thanks! For good and for bad, if users want to remove Yoast and clean up
   leftover bloats.
 * Thanks for the reassurance in this case.

 * Tried without success. What happened though was site setting changed from static
home page to dynamic. Which had updated maybe goo to know so sharing it.
 * Anyhow reinstalled and it did not have the problem.
