 * I’m having an issue with my website dragging down CPU usage and since the only
two programs I use are phpBB and WordPress, I thought I’d see if I could get
any tips from you guys for optimizing it? I’ve tried optimizing the databases
and that doesn’t seem to have done much good, so I was wanting to see if I had
the right php version in use. I know I’m using the current edition of WordPress,
so I doubt that can be it. Essentially, I’m getting a 500 error constantly when
accessing my site. They’ve attributed this to the high CPU usage, so maybe some
processes are getting stuck or hung up? I’m not sure, but I really need to figure
this out and get it resolved. The reason I suspect it might be the php version
is because that was the only thing I made changes to right before it started
   happening.

 * Note, the 500 is consistent, but not ubiquitous. If I reload the page a few times,
it starts working, but then gives me the errors again.

 * An error 500 should be reflected as an entry in the error log. Can you look into
this log to see what it says? The support of your hoster can help you.
 * Which PHP version do you currently have? WordPress currently works ideally with
8.0 or 8.1, most plugins can handle it.

 * Thanks. I’ve got 7.3, 7.4, 8.0, 8.1, and 8.2 available to me. I’ve currently
got it set to 7.4, but can change that pretty easily.
 * The error log isn’t making a lot of sense to me unfortunately. It says there’s
an index.php missing for one of my multisite webpages. Maybe this is all related
to an issue I have getting multisite to work correctly?
