 * So, on my domain, me and several other friends are running wordpress blogs.

I was wondering if there’s a way I can set up my own pingback/update site on
my domain for these blogs so that you can go to that site and see which blogs
have been most recently updated. Also, what exactly is the purpose of trackback?
I have yet to figure that one out. And is there a difference between setting
one up and when you write an entry, “trackback an uri?” A few other things I’ve
been wondering, what is “post slug,” “add a new custom field to this post” in
   the advanced view for posting.

 * But I only want the few journals running on my domain to be a part of this– not
a bunch of people we don’t know.

 * I was not aware I could put all the blogs on the same database. Plus, I’m not
excessively familiar with MySQL and PHP, basically all I know about PHP is how
to use it so layout changing is easier by creating a header and putting the content
   below it.
I figured that’s what custom fields were but I wasn’t sure. Thanks
for clarifying! As for Magpie, can I set it up to just simply put the link/name
of the blog along with the date whenever there’s a post? That’s all I really
need. Would another way to do this be to just set up another wordpress and have
all the blogs ping to it?
