Placeholders seen as value

I am using wpcf-7 version 4.4.2.

When I use placeholders in a form then the placeholders show, but are seen as values. When I select focus on a field with placeholder then the placeholder doesn’t clear. To start typing I need to clear the placeholder text manually. How can I clear the placeholder value.

Also, when typing the font color is still the greyed placeholder font color. How can I change the font color?
