Please provide a valid username.

I’m getting an error when installing WordPress on the initial user setup screen:

“Please provide a valid username.”

It seems that no matter what I input for the user name it does not work. I’ve tried completely deleting the cPanel user account and starting from scratch again with the same results. Never run into this issue before and have many other WordPress installations on the same server. Any idea where to start looking for resolutions? I’m not finding anything else online for solutions that work. Error logs aren’t producing anything worthwhile either.
