# Plugin activation – Fatal Error

 * I’m quite new to wordpress but have been tasked with activating the W3 Total 
   Cache plugin on our install however it’s throwing the following error. Any advice
   is appreciated.

 * Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
 * Warning: realpath() [function.realpath]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The
   script whose uid/gid is 501/501 is not allowed to access /www/hosts/mydomain.
