 * I’ve recently activated the plugin on my site for the related content and social
   sharing functionality. On my post index page, on each post, the_excerpt() seems
   to be getting surrounded with empty paragraphs (<p></p>). I’ve deactivated the
   plugin and the problem goes away. I’ve tried to switching to the default theme,
   but it doesn’t use the_excerpt(), so it’s hard to tell if it still happens. Any
   idea what would cause this?

 * Hi B1gJ4k3.
 * Thanks for letting us know about your issue. It sounds like your theme is using
   the [wpautop function](https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wpautop)
   on excerpts to automatically wrap lines in paragraph tags. Sometimes themes have
   an option to turn this off.
 * You can also experiment with the excerpt filter options in the plugin’s Advanced
   Settings. If you uncheck all of them, share buttons (and the extra paragraphs)
   will usually stop showing up above and below excerpts. If you want to be able
   to add share buttons above and below excerpts, you can experiment with the different
   excerpt options one at a time. Some of those excerpt filters may run after the
   theme is using [wpautop](https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wpautop),
   and thus be unaffected.
 * There is a remote possibility that unchecking all the excerpt filters still work
   remove the buttons. Some themes do things so drastically outside the standard
   ways that we can’t work around them.
 * Thanks,
    Julka
