 * I am using the following code in a text widget: [youtube id=Vw8qRIdIRsg mode=
   thumb] – i have a plugin to allow short codes in widgets. But im getting this
   error:
 * Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_detect_encoding() in /wp-content/plugins/
   advanced-responsive-video-embedder/shortcode-handling.php on line 195

 * I guess after 4 month you already moved on to another plugin but i can tell that
   [http://php.net/manual/de/function.mb-detect-encoding.php](http://php.net/manual/de/function.mb-detect-encoding.php)
   is a build in php function since php version 4.0.6 so maybe your sover has a 
   very old php version running? Or wait … the plugin actaully runs in posts but
   not in widgets?
