# [Plugin: All] cannot update or install plugins

 * Hello
 * I seem to be having a problem installing or updating plugins. Maybe someone has
   an idea as to where the problem could be?
 * When I install or update it says that it is doing it but it never seems to finish.
   A temp file is created in my wp-content folder. I thought that it could just 
   be it takes a long time (afterall it does have a msg saying be patient). Last
   night I started to update Askimet and it was still not complete 9 hours later!
   That seems way to long for me.
 * Is there someone I can ask my hosting company to tweak? I’m with 1and1.
 * For now I can just download and install via ftp so I’m not completely blocked
   but it’d be nice to get it running via the admin panel.
