# Plugin and Theme Updates VS. Plugin and Theme Automatic Updates

 * I am confused by the two sections on dashboard page. What is the difference between
   turning on either updates or Automatic Updates???
 * I just want my plugins to update, but this dashboard page is confusing. How Can
   I have a plugin in the “Plugin and Theme Updates” section checked green and that
   same plugin in the “Plugin and Theme Automatic Updates” section” checked red?
 * OR how can I have a plugin in the “Plugin and Theme Automatic Updates” section
   checked green and that same plugin in the “Plugin and Theme Updates” section”
   checked red?
 * Not sure why there are two sections on the dashboard page… Please help clarify.

 * I realize the confusion and it’s one reason we’re working on re-doing the interface.

   how automatic updates work within the dashboard.
