 * Does this plugin change the database structure and add its own tables to WordPress?
   I am looking at the online course/interactive video components. If so is there
   an online alternative to this plugin available for subscription?

 * Yes, it needs to add its own table to store the interactive content.
 * You can test the content type features for free on [h5p.org](https://h5p.org).
   There is also a subscription service on [h5p.com](https://h5p.com).
