# Plugin closed for security issue

 * Hi,
 * I was using a plugin and one day I found this message:
 * This plugin has been closed as of MM DD, YYYY and is not available for download.
   Reason: Security Issue.
 * Can you please tell me who takes this decision, WordPress team or plugin founder?
 * I want to make some auditing and check if the plugin was malicious by design 
   or just removed because not maintained any longer.

 * If the reason for the close is Security Issue then it might temporary down by
   the WordPress team.
 * If the plugin isn’t updated for a long day or no more downloads in that case 
   it might be possible that the plugin author is removed from the list.

 * “Malicious by design”? Almost certainly not. A coding error that left a hole?
   Maybe. The message indicates that the plugins team is waiting for a fix.
