Title: Plugin Crashes Site During Setup Last modified: August 22, 2016 --- # Plugin Crashes Site During Setup * [Randy King](https://wordpress.org/support/users/randyking/) * (@randyking) * [11 years, 5 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-crashes-site-during-setup/) * During the first-time setup where it asks to do a backup (I set local only), it errors out, says to check the database options, and sends me to a 404 page on my site. * After working through all the settings, I get to the database section, see that it’s all good, then tick on auto-backup for 3 days. Clicking ‘Save Changes’ yields:“ Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 128 bytes) in /<>/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1978” on the white screen. * Came back in again, auto-backup was ticked (so it did get saved) and this time when I click ‘Save Changes’ it seems to work. I am frequently getting the alloc exhaustion, then it takes two attempts to get back to the WP dashboard. If I find a solution I will reply.
