# Plugin development – Outdated docs for function wp_get_current_user

 * Hi all, I’m developing a wordpress plugin and I have to use the function `wp_get_current_user`(
   [http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_get_current_user](http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_get_current_user)).
   In this documentation page, among the others, I read the following:
 * > Use the init or any subsequent action to call this function. Calling it outside
   > of an action can lead to troubles. See #14024 for details.
 * So I clicked on the issue ([https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/14024](https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/14024)),
   and its status is “closed”: it also seems that it has been resolved for the milestone
   3.4.
 * So, is the documentation out of date? If yes, it would be better to specify which
   version of wordpress to which to that comment belongs to.
 * I wrote here because this was the first place I found, thank you.
