 * Hi! Last week I installed Yoast and was happy with the plugin and considering
   purchase. Today I updated and.. Poof – It was gone! Yoast simply disappeared
   from the list of plugins. I tried re-installing, but that failed, as the folder
   already existed. What can I do to resolve this? I attempted to rename the original
   folder, but I could not locate it in my file system. Where is it? Not in the
   list of plugins! Any suggestions are welcome. Cheers, M.

 * [@studiostilla](https://wordpress.org/support/users/studiostilla/), if you are
   unable to locate the Yoast plugin inside `/plugins/` folder on your server, it
   could have been deleted accidentally. No worries, Yoast SEO data still remains
   safe in the database. Simply download the latest version and activate the plugin.

 * That’s exactly what I tried to do, but then I received the error message above.
   So, re-installing from scratch does not seem to work..

 * Hi,
 * We are not sure why the plugin was removed but we do know all your SEO data is
   expected to be saved and re-appear. If you are getting warnings about how the
   folder or files already exists, you will need to use File Transfer Protocol (
   FTP) to install the plugin.
 * You can learn more about how to update manually using FTP here: [https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-premium-plugin/#manual](https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-premium-plugin/#manual)(
   ignore step 1) and download the plugin off this site here: [https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/)
 * You will need an FTP program such as FileZilla and your FTP details, which can
   be obtained from your host provider.
