 * I love the ability to create custom statuses (for posts). However, the ability
   to change the status of a post is limited to only those that can publish posts.
 * I work in an organization that has a 2 step post moderation process. The contributor
   submits the post to his/her manager for review and then our marketing department
   reviews and then publishes the post.
 * Neither the contributor or the manager can have publish permissions for posts.
   Because of this, they are not able to update the post status.
 * When the post is submitted for review, the manager receives the email notification.
   However, there is no method (except a manual email) for the second notification
   to marketing after the manager reviews it.
 * I was hoping that it could be accomplished with the post status since a change
   in post status can trigger an email.
 * Maybe there is something I’m missing … I’m and not configuring EditFlow properly.
 * Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

 * Hey there,
    If you’re using v0.6, both the contributor and manager should be
   able to change the post status from WordPress’ Quick Edit (they can also publish,
   but that is an oversight that will be removed in v0.6.1). When they change the
   post status, email notifications will be generated.
 * Let me know if you have further questions.
 * Thanks,
 * Daniel

 * For a while yesterday this looked like the “fatal flaw” that was going to keep
   us from being able to start the roll out EditFlow in our newsroom. (Until we
   read this post where the status change (for non “publish” rolls) could be accessed
   in the quick edit menu.
 * Will non-publish roles be able be able to change status from the post page, not
   just the quick edit area, in a in 6.1?
 * Also, just an FYI, we tested this with capabilities manager and role manager
   plug ins. In the quick edit menu, even though “publish” does still show up, if
   that right has been removed from that role (via the capabilities plug in) it
   doesn’t actually do anything (publish) even though you select it. So that was
   good for us in being able to establish some specific workflow hierarchy. Having
   to go to the quick edit menu is a rough workaround for now.
 * This idea very important for those in larger newsrooms that need hierarchical
   status and publishing flow. It would be really cool to be able to associate hierarchical
   statuses with user groups in EditFlow. I think that would solve this problem.
 * Thanks for the great work.

 * Hey Quint,
    v0.6.1 is pretty close to being released and we don’t currently have
   plans to modify the post status box for contributors on the post page. That would
   be a good feature request for a future release. I’ll make sure it’s added.
 * Good to hear the workaround works for you for now.
 * Re: hierarchical statuses, that’s definitely on our radar. It would probably
   be better to map statuses to user roles and we’ll need to think through the best
   way to do that.
 * Cheers,
 * Daniel
